Chautauqua County School Boards Association Holds Annual Meeting, Honors Night

FREDONIA — The Chautauqua County School Boards Association held its Annual Meeting and Honors Night at the Williams Center on the State University at Fredonia campus recently.

Raymond J. Fashano, executive director, welcomed the honored students, families and friends, administrators, staff and school board members from each of the Chautauqua County school districts and Erie 2 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES.

The MG Voices, under the direction of Julie Costantini, entertained the group with a selection of music. Mosaic Mercy, a vocal group the Forestville Wesleyan Church, provided the invocation. Bob Schneider, New York State School Boards Association associate executive director, extended greetings on behalf of his organization.

The honor students were recognized by Fashano assisted by Sylvester Cleary, county school boards association president from Forestville Central School, and Martha Howard, first vice president from Silver Creek. The students gave a brief statement about their accomplishments and future plans. Each received a certificate and memento from the Chautauqua County School Boards Association. The Honor Students are:

Sylvester Cleary from Forestville Central School was the recipient of the Board Member of the Year Award. Todd Tranum, executive director of the Manufacturers Association of the Southern Tier and president/CEO of the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce, received the Friend of Education Award. The Cassadaga Valley Central School Board of Education was the recipient of the School Board Professional Development Award.

Board of Education members leaving service were also recognized.

Michael Ginestre, superintendent of Sherman Central School and Jason Delcamp, superintendent of Brocton Central School and president of the Far West Council of School Superintendents, presented scholarship awards to a student from each participating district. The recipients are:
